One thing that every final year student of any college/University always looking out for is; Campus Placements. It is always a dream of every student to get job in his dream company or any reputed organization with handsome salary during the campus placements.

What is Campus Placement?

Campus placement or campus selection is a program carried out within colleges, universities or any other educational institutions to provide jobs to students who are nearing completion of their respective studies.

Companies come to colleges, universities, institutions etc. and conduct interviews and recruit right candidate.

Campus Placement Process

Every candidate has to go through multiple rounds of interviews and discussion before getting selected in campus placement.

Rounds during Campus placements

1.Aptitude test
2.Group discussion
3.Panel interview round
4.Technical Interview round
5.HR Interview round

Aptitude Test

This test is generally conducted to assess the skills of a candidate. This test consists of  the Multiple Choice questions which candidate has to solve in given time.

This test generally consists of multiple sections such as logical reasoning, problem solving, numerical skills etc. It is carried out to assess the candidates cognitive ability, work behaviour, personality etc.

Group Discussion

After completing the first round i.e. Aptitude test; the selected candidates goes for the next round which is Group discussion.

Here candidates are given with the topic for discussion. The candidate who can speak properly on the given subject or can make healthy debate/discussion on the given subject gets selected for the further round.

Group discussions are of different types such as a) Topical group discussion b) Case studies c) abstract discussion.

a) Topical Group Discussion: Such type of discussions are generally based upon the current affairs. For such discussion candidate should read newspaper or should watch news channels on daily basis.

b) Case studies: In this type of discussion, specific scenarios or a situations are provided to candidates. Employers looks at the candidates ability to provide the proper solutions based on the scenarios.

c) Abstract discussion: Such discussion doesn’t have proper topic outline. These discussions are given with a statement or sentence, quotes etc. Based on these statements or phrases candidates have to steer the discussion in meaningful way. This discussion assess the creativity, knowledge, thinking abilities and clarity of thoughts of a candidate.

Panel Interview

The selected candidates from the previous round will have to go through panel interview round. In this interview, multiple professional interviewers interviews a single candidate at a same time. Interviewers could be potential supervisor, HR representative etc. In this case, interviewers assess the candidate from different perspective. This assessment helps in getting clarity about the candidate’s pressure handling quality, communication skills and also about the clarity of the thoughts.

Technical interview round

In this round, the candidates have to go through the technical questions and answers session. The candidate have to showcase their hard skills. Such interview allow interviewers to check the technical knowledge of a candidate and also it checks whether the candidate is able to solve the problems?

HR interview Round:

This is final interview round. Here HR assess the candidate’s communication skills, management skills, teamwork, personality, soft skills etc. Candidate has to showcase his soft skills.
