Interview etiquette: Do’s & Don’ts

Are you aware of interview etiquettes? If answer is “No” then Let’s quickly have a look at the “Do’s and Don’ts” of the Interview etiquette.

Punctuality : Basic Interview Etiquette

Be punctual. Be on time for an interview. You should reach at Venue 30 minutes before the scheduled interview time. This shows that you know the value of time.

Interview Documents:

Carry all the documents which are required for an interview. (Resume, photos, certificates, mail copy of communication, etc.). Before going for an interview, you can ask the concern person regarding the documents that they require at the time of interview. Check the availability of necessary documents before going for an interview.

Professional Grooming and Body language:

Always be well groomed. (Refer Grooming tips: https://edudaps.in/2018/09/10/grooming-tips/ ) Always remember that, “First impression is the last impression.” Always maintain a proper body language. Do not behave as if you are roaming in a garden.

Mobile Phone:

Before entering into the interview hall, make sure that you have switched off your mobile phone.

Ask for Permission before entering into Interview hall:

Before entering into interview hall, always remember to knock the door and ask for permission. Do not enter into the interview hall without asking for permission. If you do so then you might be disturbing the privacy of the interviewer. Even the interviewer might think that you don’t have common sense or manners or etiquettes.

After entering into the hall, greet the interviewer with the smile on your face and ask for permission to sit on the chair or any sitting arrangement. Do not grab the chair and sit directly on it.

If you don’t understand the question,then ask the interviewer to repeat the question.

If in case you don’t know the answer then you can say interviewer that, “Sorry sir/madam, I don’t know the answer.” But don’t try to fool the interviewer.

Conversation With Interviewer:

Always maintain a healthy and good conversation with the interviewer. Do not make any kind argue with the interviewer. Instead of that you can put your thoughts on relevant topic. Do not use any bad words.

Clearing your doubts about the company during interview:

You can clear your doubts with respect to your job profile in that organisation, working culture, etc.

Note: Whenever you have done with your interview, then don’t forget to thank the interviewer with the firm handshake and having the smile on your face.
