Contents that one should know while writing a Resume

Below mentioned are the points that could be the contents of a resume.

  1. Heading: Heading includes the Name of a candidate, address for correspondence, email address and contact number (if you are comfortable for receiving calls from employer). Heading should be at the top middle or top left corner of the resume. Make sure that provided email address should not be fancy such as, enjoywithme6996@opd.mate It should be professional email address. Unprofessional email address on resume or CV makes very bad impression.
  2. Resume objective: There are different opinions about whether to include this section into a resume or not. But its better to keep an objective into your resume. Objective should be clear, concise and to the point.
  3. Educational Qualification: This section should be in reverse chronological order. It means you should start with recent qualification first. This should include degrees that you received, colleges or universities you studied, year of passing and grades or percentage received. Mention if you have done any certification courses which suits for applied job.
  4. Professional Project: Mention the details of any professional project that you have done.
  5. Professional Training: Mention about any professional training sessions that you have attended.
  6. Skills: Mention about any skills you have developed. Write about your computer proficiency.
  7. Achievements: Write about your achievements and awards.
  8. Extracurricular activities: Here you can add your extracurricular activities (social activities, cultural activities, sports etc.) that you have performed.
  9. Professional Membership: If you are member of any professional group or community then don’t forget to include this section into your resume.
  10. Personal Information: This section should include your personal details.
  11. Strengths & Hobbies: Write down your strengths and hobbies.
  12. References (Professional): This is an optional field on resume. Its not mandatory to include the reference on your resume. This field is required only when you are among the last 2 or 3 candidates who have been shortlisted for job position. Its better to have information of your referrer before starting any job hunt. Gather information (Name, Designation, company name, email id and contact number) about your referrer. Before listing your referrer into your reference section of resume, ask for their permission. Colleagues, managers, teachers, professors etc. are the options to include in reference section. Never include your family member and relatives into this section.
